ORIGINS AND PROPERTIES
Blue Lagoon’s operation is based on the properties of the Blue Lagoon geothermal seawater and the closed ecocycle it belongs to. It represents an exceptional relationship between nature and science.
The origin of the geothermal seawater is from 2,000 meters beneath the earth’s surface. In its travels through porous lava, a blend of sea and fresh water undergoes mineral exchange and then near the earth’s surface, concentration occurs, due to vaporization, evaporation and finally, sedimentation.
The geothermal seawater is led directly from the source to the lagoons at Blue Lagoon and Blue Lagoon Clinic where guests enjoy relaxing in the geothermal seawater and benefitting from its healing power.

Set in the heart of a stunning lava landscape, Blue Lagoon Clinic hotel is just ten minutes’ walk from Blue Lagoon, and admission (complimentary) is included in your room price. In addition, the hotel offers its own private bathing lagoon, available only to guests at certain hours of the day.

Blue Lagoon Clinic Hotel has won several design awards. Built in harmony with the surrounding landscape, it offers an oasis of calm, relaxation and healing.
The hotel has 15 bright and spacious double/twin rooms. All rooms offer private facilities and a veranda, with breathtaking views of the surrounding lava fields. All rooms are equipped with private bathrooms and a shower.

The hotel has a specially designed room where patients can relax after bathing and/or light therapy. There is also a massage room and rooms for medical examinations and doctor's appointments. Please note that these rooms are only available for treatment patients.
